My Camera - It's back!!

And I have so many things now that I want to bake and cook and post....I just wish the weather would cool off a bit.
But I did make bagels tonight.
I found this recipe on a wonderful blog http://happyveganface.blogspot.com/2008/05/bagels.html which has great stuff!!
Next time I will add sunflower seeds and/ or flax seeds.
They are easy and very very good. Gotta get out the lox and cream cheese....

I like the idea of Wordless Wednesdays....

So I'll take a shot at it (from older pics taken...)

I really miss my camera

I feel like every food I prepare is a total waste of time if I can't take a picture of it.
I called the shop and hopefully I will have it by next week.
So far you have "missed out" on mexican food night, pasta evening and to be honest - nothing else. It is just way too hot to be in the kitchen. Hot and Humid. That is what the summers are like in Israel. Thank God I live near the beach!
But I am preparing a "to-do" list.....

Dinner Mexi-American Style

I think mexican food is the best. I love the spices, I love the heat that comes at you from mexican food. I love anything mexican.
I also love shrimp. I think I am a shrimpaholic....In Israel, due to the Kosher laws, you can't find shrimp at the local market. But luckily I have a great non-kosher store not far from where I live where I can get my shrimp, bacon and whatever non-kosher delights my heart desires (which isn't much - mostly shrimp).
Checking my freezer I noticed an old bottle of tequila with alot of bottle but a little tequila (I keep most of my "clean" booze in the freezer - tequila, vodka, cachasa, gin...) not enough to start a drinking spree but just enough to add auhentiquity to my shrimp...
So I gathered what I had on hand - coriander, chile pepper, salt, olive oil garlic and of course - tequila...I just threw them all on a hot skillet - 4-6 minutes.
Voila - dinner!! And Yummy!!

Happy 4th of July my Dearest Friends & Family

May your celebrations be joyous and your year peaceful and uneventful in a good way, a peaceful way.
May your only worries be if you have enough sugar, flour and spices in the pantry!!
May we all have a year of peace and celebration!!

To me America is either chocolate or apples. There is nothing more american than chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal or apple pie.
So I decided to bake Chocolate Oatmeal Bars. I copied this recipe online - and I am sorry to say that I cannot find the site now. But these are great. Very decadent. Very american to me. I guess tonight I will make something cinnamony & appelish....

Chocolate Oatmeal Bars
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 + 2 tsp vanilla
3 cups quaker oats
2 1/2 cups flour
pinch salt
1 tsp soda
1 can condensed milk
2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup coarsley chopped walnuts

Beat together sugar and butter. Add eggs and vanilla till light an fluffy.
In a seperate bowl combine flour, oats, salt and soda. Add yo butter mixture till well incorporated.
I a lined pan with parchement paper put in 2/3 of mixture.

in a small pan heat and melt the chocolate with the condensed mil. add vanilla and nuts and pur over batter in the pan. Spoon the rest of the batter on the chocolate mixture.
Bake in preheated oven at 170C for approx. 25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars. Refrigerate till completely cold.
