Something Healthier - Granola

The best thing about granola, besides its being yummy and a helathier snack is the fact that once you have the basic recipe you can endlessly fool around with the taste - if it be by using different spices or changing the nuts and fruits. It is alwyas a fun recipe to play with.
After trying an endless amount of different recipes I adopted this one which is a mix of all the recipes I have tried. Please don't forget that you really should change and add flavours to your liking (assorted dried fruits, spices, coconut, different nuts, etc...)
Dorit's Favorite Granola:
4-5 Tbs. brown sugar
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup honey or date honey (called silan)
1 tsp cinnamon
1-2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
Heat till sugar has dissolved. Add:
3 cups quaker
1 cup bran
1 cup nuts - I used hazelnuts, chopped
1 cup sunflower seeds
Place on cookie sheet and bake at 150C for approx. 30 minutes, stirring every so often.
Cool completely
I added banana chips and cranberries which are my favorite combo.

Great recipe - love granola and hate paying a huge price for a small bag.

Hi Giz - These are so easy and so addicting. After making them once you wonder why anyone really needs to pay for the bagged ones.
I also usually buy the oatmeal, nuts and fruit in bulk, and just store in the freezer. lasts forever.
